In the wake of inspiration
Akgün Akdil is a graduate of Ege (Aegean) University with a BA in Landscape Architecture. She started her publishing career in Country Homes magazine. It was a beautiful thing that changed her life and opened her new horizons. She did photo shooting and wrote articles about decor, gardening and gourmet foods and did interviews with designers there. After working in Country Homes three and a half years, she received an offer from Elle Decor magazine. She was a style editor there. She is still freelances working in Madame Figaro, InStyle, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, House Beautiful, InStyle Home, Marie Claire Maison, Home Art, Şamdan Plus, XOXO, Port Magazine, Formsante, Hurriyet, Istanbul Art News.
Aside from creating/managing decor, fashion and gourmet related projects she partakes as a stylist and art director in TV commercials, advertising shootings and documentaries. Akgün Akdil also does visual merchandising for stores and fair booths.
Akgün Akdil is frequently invited as a journalist to major fairs, events such as PARIS FASHION WEEK, MAISON&OBJET, PARIS DESIGN WEEK, LA BIENNALE PARIS, PARIS DÉCO OFF, WHO'S NEXT, PARIS PHOTO, ART PARIS, IDÉO BAIN, BATIMAT in Paris; SALONE DEL MOBILE, MILAN DESIGN WEEK, MILAN FASHION WEEK in Milan; LA BIENNALE INTERNATIONALE DESIGN in Saint-Étienne; AMBIENTE in Frankfurt. She writes articles about all these events and the new trends.
Akgün Akdil is also an image and style consultant, personal stylist for women and men, including some celebrities.
She views the world of “styling” as “the entryway to the unimaginable”. Akgün believes that for every project, taking the joyful journey of inspiration usually leads to imagining the unimaginable. Moments such as listening to a great piece of music, having a delicious meal, or tasting a very old bottle of wine are unforgettable. These are the moments she tries to capture because she knows that these are the moments that are worth living for.
